Living Through Hurricane Sandy: CARiD Staff Experience
Hurricane Sandy, one of the largest storms to hit the eastern coastline of the United States on October 29-30, caused power outages to over 8.5 million homes and businesses across 21 states according to a U.S. Department of Energy report. The monetary cost of property losses and cleanup has been projected to top $50 billion dollars, making this storm the second most destructive one in U.S. history since World War II. As of November 6 today, more than 6 million customers have power back, but many in the hardest hit regions remain without power, heat, or hot water. Additionally, widespread gasoline shortages have created long lines at the pump, odd-even day rationing, and transportation challenges for almost everyone. Because New York and central New Jersey where CARiD headquarters are located among the most affected areas, we offer our sympathy for all those who have faced tragedy, suffered losses, and face hardship in freezing temperatures as a result of Hurricane Sandy.
If you’ve been affected by the storm, we at CARiD understand what you are going through because we are facing the same hardships ourselves. The difficulties our employees must overcome in the wake of electric outages and fuel shortages has forged an even stronger bond among us. Because our range of talent spans from areas across New Jersey and even New York, simply getting to the office has become a daunting challenge. Nevertheless, we remain committed to our work and to serving our customers. To effectively deliver on our own high standards, we've been sharing generators, gasoline, carpooling and even shuttling everyone in groups so all can get where they need to go and can locate supplies. All of us remain thankful for what we have and remain positive about the short term outlook of our area, even though another potentially damaging storm is on the way.
CARiD’s success and never-ending mission to improve ourselves as a company has always been a result of the enthusiasm and automotive passion of our employees, and we remain open in order to serve our loyal customers – now as much as ever. Although the storm may cause some slight delays of order deliveries due to manufacturers and shipping networks being affected, we will work hard to ensure your order with us is followed up on and expedited as quickly as possible. From replacement OE body parts to aero kits, should you have any questions on the range of products we sell, our friendly staff is online and on duty at this time to help guide you through the buying process and make sure purchases meet your needs, fit your exact vehicle, and satisfy you for years to come. Sincerely, -The staff of CARiD.com
