McLaren Senna Details Announced, Will Debuted at Geneva Motor Show
The 2018 Geneva Motor Show is around the corner, and McLaren has now announced details on their latest creation, the hypercar Senna which will make its official debut at the show. Being that this car pays homage to the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, there’s no surprise that these folks came up with some impressive power. We’ll remind that the Senna was revealed earlier in December. Now, the automaker states that the most powerful-ever internal combustion engine is found underneath the hood of the new street-legal road car, the Senna. Boasting 789bhp of max power and 800Nm of peak torque, the hypercar reaches 60 mph (from a standstill) in mere 2.8 seconds. What’s hiding under the hood is a 4.0-liter flat-plane-crank version of the twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated to a 7-Speed dual-clutch gearbox.
While McLaren Senna weighs just 2641 lbs, it is the lightest road car McLaren ever built. The secret of its lightweight is rather simple: the hypercar is built on Monocage III carbon structure (and traces its lineage back to 1981 and the McLaren MP4/1, the first carbon Formula 1 racing car). With the carbon-fibre technology from Formula One, the Monocage III is recognized as the strongest carbon-fibre monocoque ever created by McLaren for a road car. With the price tag of $1M, the automaker will build only 500 Sennas.
